Nine Bottles of Wine, Niagara Part 1

2

This past weekend Todd and I went on a little road trip with two of our friends for Valentine’s Day weekend. Yes, it may have been Valentine’s Day, but the day before, the 13th, is very special for Todd and I. On February 13, 2001, Todd asked me out on our first date and we’ve been together ever since, yes, nine years!

This is actually our fourth time to Niagara. The first time was our first official trip together and Todd surprised me with a diamond heart necklace, which is what I wore on our wedding day.

The trip up was mostly uneventful. Eight hours of snowy roadsides and multiple pit stops at gas stations.

The next day we ventured to the falls, most of it was frozen over but it was still beautiful.

Don’t worry, I didn’t jump!

I love how my giant purse is taking up half the picture. :)

I was freezing and I knew a hot chocolate was just what I needed. I asked for a small, thinking it would be 12oz. I chuckled when they gave me the little 8oz cup, it was the perfect amount though!

After wandering around for another hour or so it was time to head to Niagara on the Lake where we had lunch at a place called Cork’s.

They had a pretty decent selection for their lunch menu, and I ended up getting the Vegetarian Wrap.

It was pretty good! The wrap itself was plain, but all the vegetables and the avocado spread made up for that. I didn’t eat the fries though, the wrap filled me up!

This place was newly remodeled and had a very warm feel to it.

We then spent about an hour walking around and browsing the stores. I loved how there was only an inch or so of snow on the ground where back home we have 2 feet!

Next up, the wineries!

timmy’s! i think 8oz of their hot chocolate is just right. any more and your tummy might revolt :-)
niagara on the lake is gorgeous. i haven’t been in the winter, but seeing the falls partially frozen is a little magical.

it is sad how little snow we have up here. i haven’t been snowshoeing once yet this season.

Oh wow! I can’t believe how beautiful it is in the winter! I’ve never been there but I really should venture there one day. Great photos!
