Todd and I have a small hobby on the side. If we ever see a stray dog, we try to rescue it. It first happened back in college, when we found a Shih Tzu mix that had been abandoned by a field. No collar or any other type of identification. And boy was she hungry! It took us a few attempts because it was obviously frightened and ran away from us. But, after a few days and during a horrible storm, we found her shaking underneath a tree. We dried her and washed her later that day in a parking lot. It was a Sunday so no shelters were open and we were hoping that someone would see us and think, what the heck are they doing? After a while a woman pulled up with her daughters and said her sister works at the local shelter, so she would be able to take her there tomorrow. So, we hope that she went to a good home.
About a year later, Todd and I were driving down a busy street in town when I saw a little Jack Russell in the street by the curb that almost got hit! Todd pulled over and we immediately tried to get the dog to safety. We noticed it had no collar, it’s nails were overgrown, and looked like it had never had a bath. I approached cautiously and just sat and waited for her to come to me. After a few minutes, she came to me and we took her back to my apartment. Again, it was a Sunday. What is it with finding stray dogs on a Sunday? But, luckily we were heading home for spring break so Todd said he would take the little dog to his Grandmother’s. She fell in love with her, and has been with her since.
And lastly, about a year ago. Todd came across a dog that had been tied to a tree that was in a strip between two highways! Honestly, who does something like that?! The dog broke free, because he saw part of the leash still attached to his collar. Unfortunately, Todd came back the next day, but he couldn’t find the dog. We both hoped that somebody else was able to save it, even though there was only a small chance he would be okay.

Onto my eats and exercise of the day. Yesterday, I kept my word and did 30 minutes of Yoga for Runners from yogadownload.com. Back when I was training for my first half marathon, I was doing yoga 2-3 times a week after my runs. Yesterday was the first time I got my mat out since April! The poses were a little painful, but afterwards my legs felt so much better. And yes, my calf was still bothering me. I’m seeing my doctor on Friday so I’m hoping she can help me in some way.
This morning, I got to the gym for the early spin class. I was surprised that I managed to get up at 5AM again today. I think there are two instructors for spin class because I had a different one today, and she was about as good as the one I had on Friday. The only problem I had was that her spin classes only last 45 minutes instead of an hour. Since I wasn’t expecting this, I had 15 minutes to kill, so I hopped on the Elliptical.
When I got home, I made a Green Monster: Almond Milk, Banana, 1/2 Scoop Chocolate Protein Powder, Spinach, and ice.

This was quick, refreshing, and filled up my stomach since I was running on empty.
After I arrived at work (where they had the a/c on in 60 degree weather!), I had my half mini watermelon from last week. And about an hour later, a nectarine.

For lunch, I had a Flat Out Wrap with Sabra hummus, and a Pink Lady apple. I love this hummus!

A few hours later I had a nice plum for a snack. I was going to have a peach, but when I cut it open, there was a little worm in it! Needless to say, I may not be eating any peaches for awhile.

After work, I plan on heading to Crossfit, doing some yoga, and trying to catch up on some reading. I’ve really been slacking on my book the past few days!

Oh how sweet that you try and rescue dogs! I am glad that there are people who still have the heart to try and care for animals like that.
Mmm. More yummy foods!
That’s so awesome that you guys rescue dogs. We need more of YOU!
@Caity & @Paige@ Running Around Normal: Thank you so much! We love animals and actually talked about how great it would be to open up our own rescue shelter. But of course that would take a good amount of money. However, if we ever win the lottery, that’s our plan.
