It happens about once every few months. One weekend where I am running around nonstop and the only time I can relax is about 10 minutes before I go to bed.
Saturday:
In the morning, the hubby and I headed down to REI because they were having their “once a year super clearance sale.” Picture Black Friday in the summer. That’s what it was like. There was actually a line of about hundred people outside before they opened! We decided it would be chaos, so we just drove around for a bit and then headed back when the crowd thinned.
We actually ended up with some pretty good stuff. We both got hiking backpacks so we can go camping/hiking possibly in a few weeks. I also go a new Polar FT40 watch for more than 75% off because “the watch didn’t work.” The watch didn’t work because the battery was dead. So I just popped in a new battery and it’s as good as new! I was also able to find a pair of cycling shoes for only $15! They are a little snug, but I figured I would give them a try since they were such a good deal, and if they don’t work out I can just sell them.
After spending a few hours there, we headed back home. Then, I had to go to the Apple Genius Bar at the mall because my iPhone had been acting up. After using it for about five minutes, the screen would flicker and go completely white! So, the guy looked at it and just swapped it with a new phone. I’m hoping I won’t have any more problems with it.
Another reason to go to the mall was so I could find a dress for the cocktail party at the Healthy Living Summit! After trying on a few I liked, I bought one at The Limited that was on sale. I’m not 100% sure I will wear this one. But I wasn’t sure when I would have the time again to dress shop, so I have this one as a backup. If I do find another one I like, I’ll just return this one.
When the shopping was done (we also made a quick trip to BJ’s!), Todd and I headed home once again, where I quickly changed and headed to the gym. I got my long run in for the week of four miles on the treadmill and I did not stop to walk once! I was very happy about that. When I finished up there, I headed to the grocery store to stock up on some fresh produce for the week, and then happily collapsed on the couch when I got home.
Sunday:
There wasn’t as much running around as Saturday, but it was still busy! I spent the morning writing, editing, printing, labeling, and sealing about 40 letters for my Team In Training fundraising so I could bring them to the kickoff party that afternoon to get them mailed out. This included running to Staples to get envelopes and printable labels. I literally finished sealing the last letter right before I had to leave! Lots of work, but happy that I got them out.
The Kickoff party was to meet the fellow team members in the area, and to also meet your coach, mentor, and the honorary team member. It was fun, I got a lot of my questions answered, and I met the other people that would be running the Disney Half Marathon as well. I may start to do my long runs with the team that is training for the Baltimore Half Marathon which I am also running. So I have to see where/when it is this weekend.
When I got home, I had about an hour to kill before playing Hooverball with some people from Crossfit. I was so happy that we had nice weather because it was pouring earlier that day! We got in two rounds, each team won once. I also had a personal goal of finally getting that medicine ball over the net. If you’re new to playing, it’s a lot harder than it looks! Of course, the guys make it look like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
I am happy to say that during my last serve I did it!
I settled in for the night by having dinner and watching True Blood at a friends house. I swear it gets better and better every week!
So that was my weekend in a nutshell. I hope you are a little more refreshed than I am right now! Bring on the coffee!
